A-  Many coaches do have some of their own practice sessions.  The Homer Soccer Club recommends that if only one practice can be attended, the professional training session be the priority.

Q-  Does the Homer Soccer Club provide uniforms?
A-  Yes,  jersey, shorts and a pair of soccer socks.  Uniforms will be distributed during the first week of practices. Parents must provide shin guards, soccer shoes (recommended), and a soccer ball for their child.  Please provide water or sports drinks for your child for all practices and games.

A-  Size 3 for players up to U-8,  Size 4 from U-9 through U-12, Size 5 U-13 and older

Q- What should my child wear for practice/training and to games?
A-  For practice wear a pair of athletic shorts or at least a pair of comfortable shorts or loose fitting pants in cold weather.  Shin guards covered by socks are required or the kids cannot play for insurance purposes. Socks must cover the shin guards entirely.  Soccer shoes are recommended though not a requirement. When the ground gets wet kids can easily fall without proper footwear. At the very least a pair of gym shoes which conform well to their feet. Shoes are perhaps the most undervalued piece of soccer equipment. (Sports Authority, Dick's Sporting Goods or Soccer N' Things on 151st in a strip center just southeast of Orland Square Mall are good places to buy - Soccer N' Things offers a discount to Homer Soccer so mention if you go there) A bottle of water or sports drink diluted to 50% water.  For games, wear your uniform, bring a big smile and have fun!  No jewelry of any kind should be worn at practices or at games for safety reasons.

Q-What about inclement weather or rainouts?
A-We will have practice and games in a light rain  We will not play or practice with lightning and thunder or if the fields are too wet.  The Homer Soccer League does it's best to notify coaches and parent regarding any practice or game cancellations.  Coaches are notified who in turn notify the parents.  Whenever possible a group e-mail will be sent out if the decision to cancel is made with enough lead time.  The rule of thumb is if you are not notified of a cancellation, show up for practice or games.
